We&rsquo;re looking for a Software Engineer that has a strong interest in both cloud-computing &amp; Machine Learning in order to help build our complex SAAS solution alongside our world-class tech teams. 
Our Technical Leads will form feature teams - consisting of Frontend Software Engineers, Backend Software Engineers , Product Managers &amp; Product Designers.
You will have the opportunity to be part of a newly formed engineering team focusing on a new product. This team will be responsible for building a new cloud-native product from the ground up, presenting an exciting technical challenge. You will leverage cutting-edge technologies and architectural patterns to create a scalable, resilient, and efficient solution that meets the evolving needs of our clients in the insurance industry. 
As a Software Engineer you&rsquo;ll:<ul><li>
Be one of the technical references for technical subjects such as architecture and guidelines;</li><li>
Work with our Product &amp; Design teams to turn our vision into a tangible roadmap every quarter</li><li>
Maintain, evolve and evangelise Akur8&rsquo;s software development best practices (clean Code, automation test, reliability) to engineers, making sure that they are followed</li><li>
Design and build complex systems, focusing on performance, scalability, security, as well as crafting an attractive user experience</li><li>
Testing as a part of the development process through unit, integration and E2E tests;</li><li>
Collaborate with other engineers to deliver our machine learning pipelines.</li></ul>

Comfortable turning actuarial, financial, or mathematical concepts into robust, scalable Python code</li><li>

Familiar with non-life reserving workflows, and advanced statistical modeling</li><li>
Understanding of loss reserve triangles, claims development, cohorts</li><li>
Ability to translate actuarial formulas into optimized Python modules</li><li>
Understanding of claims-level datasets</li><li>
Policy exposure aggregation</li><li>
Actuarial data structures (triangles, severity/frequency data, etc.)</li></ul>
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: What will this person do on a day to day basis?<ul><li>
Implement new actuarial requirements as Python functions</li><li>
Review and optimize existing python functions as necessary</li><li>
Provide unit tests around all Python capabilities</li><li>
Work with subject matter experts to research, prototype, and develop new actuarial approaches</li><li>
Support actuarial data analytics by building reusable analysis functions</li><li>
Help develop visualization components for actuarial results and diagnostics</li></ul>
Candidates must be team players with excellent interpersonal skills. They must also have solid, proven experience architecting and building commercial quality business software applications, and a proven track record of development targeting Amazon AWS cloud operating systems.
We're looking for an innovative and rigorous mind that has a solid technical background and a track record of helping their team grow, possessing the following attributes :<ul><li>
A minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience as a Python Developer;</li><li>
Experience with modern web frameworks, Angular preferred;</li><li>
Knowledge of data structures and related algorithms and their implementation in code &amp; databases;</li><li>
Strong technical experience, especially with Microsoft development tools;</li><li>
Strong hands-on experience building cloud based solutions targeting AWS;</li><li>
Experienced with multiple design patterns;</li></ul><ul><li>
Good communication skills and a will to share your knowledge with your team;</li><li>
Ability to produce good quality code and a good knowledge of software development best practices;</li><li>
Aptitude for mathematics, with the ability to understand and implement statistical and financial calculations;</li></ul><ul><li>
Excellent English skills, and ability to write and speak clearly and effectively;</li><li>
Ability to work independently;</li></ul> 
Additional bonus skills:<ul><li>
2+ years of prior experience of backend projects in C#/.NET or similar;</li><li>
Knowledge of database design in MSSQL or PostgreSQL;</li><li>
Experience with micro service architecture.</li><li>
Experience with Kubernetes.</li></ul>
