Under supervision, the Journeyman Ironworker is responsible for completing tasks related to structural iron and steel erection and completing the tasks in a timely, quality manner. 
 
 
Required Skills 
<ul><li>Bolt-up structural member following blueprints and instructions from supervisors.</li>
<li>Ability to weld 3G and 4G</li>
<li>Rig structural-steel members to hoist cables, using chains, or cables.</li>
<li>Hoist steel beams, girders, and columns into place, using cranes, or signal hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural-steel members.</li>
<li>Detail Work: may include installing angle and bent plate, welding clips, joists, tube steel or angle kickers; installing safety cable and safety posts; or shaking out and spreading joists and long spans.</li>
<li>Assembling: Plumbing of structural steel; installing deck; installing and welding steel stairs, handrail and guardrail.</li>
<li>Field fabrication or assembly of metal parts such as steel frames, columns, beams, and girders, according to blueprints or instructions from supervisors.</li>
<li>Insert sealing strips, wiring, insulating material, ladders, flanges, gauges, and valves, depending on types of structures being assembled</li></ul> 
 
 
Required Experience 
<ul><li>Use all safety and personal protective equipment for the purpose intended. Use of safety harness and lanyard for proper tie off.</li>
<li>Operate boom lift and scissor lift.</li>
<li>Pull, push, or pry structural-steel members into approximate positions for bolting into place.</li>
<li>Walk/stand on girders or other structural-steel members to position them or use rope to guide them into position.</li>

After 6 months of employment, all helpers are eligible for LPR's Apprentice Program. This program offers paid-for training that follows NCCER curriculum and is DOL certified. All Apprentices receive frequent pay raises and promotions as they progress through the program.

Under supervision, the ironworker helper is responsible for completing tasks related to structural iron and steel erection and completing the tasks in a timely, quality manner while maintaining safety and productivity. 
 
 
Required Skills 
Normal construction job site conditions to include loud noises, dust, potential unseen hazards, and heavy equipment operating within close range. May include exposure to heights at times in excess of 40 feet. May include confined spaces, being exposed to outdoor elements for long periods of time, and may work long hours. 
 
 
Required Experience 
<ul><li>Assist in work area layout, assembly and installation of structural steel. May include taking measurements, assisting with setting up rigging, unloading and shake out of material. Helper level 2 and 3 may do more progressive tasks i.e. bolt-up, detail work, laying deck, fastening structural steel members, etc.</li>
<li>Install safety line and posts.</li>
<li>Clean work area and assist in keeping it safe.</li>
<li>Firewatch or other spotter duties.</li>
