Job SummaryThe Preschool Director is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the preschool, ensuring compliance with state regulations, and providing a safe, nurturing environment for children. Key responsibilities and qualifications include:&#8203;Key Responsibilities:<ul><li>Program Development and Implementation: Design and implement educational programs that meet state standards and support children's developmental needs. &#8203;</li><li>Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate preschool staff, fostering a collaborative and professional environment. &#8203;</li><li>Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the preschool complies with all applicable state laws and regulations, including maintaining appropriate licenses and certifications. &#8203;</li><li>Budget Management: Prepare and manage the preschool's budget, including allocating funds for programs, staff salaries, and facility maintenance. &#8203;</li><li>Parent and Community Relations: Communicate effectively with parents regarding their children's progress and engage with the community to promote preschool programs. &#8203;</li><li>Assists or fills in for Preschool teachers when needed</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Educational Requirements:</li><li>12 Core semester units in early childhood education/development.</li><li>3 semester units in Administration or Staff relations</li><li>4 years&rsquo; teaching experience in a supervised group Child Care Center.</li><li>Alternatives include</li><li>A degree in child development, 3 units Administration and 2 years teaching experience</li><li>BA degree in child development, 3 units administration and 1 year teaching experience</li><li>Child Development Site Supervisor Permit or Program Director Permit</li><li>Experience: Several years of experience in early childhood education, including supervisory or administrative roles.</li><li>Skills: Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills; proficiency in curriculum development; and knowledge of state regulations and licensing requirements. &#8203;</li></ul>These responsibilities and qualifications ensure that a Preschool Director can effectively manage the preschool's operations, provide high-quality early childhood education, and comply with California's regulatory standards.&#8203;Physical RequirementsMobility: Ability to move around the entire preschool facilityStanding/Walking: Periodic standing and walking during classroom visits, staff supervision, and interacting with children.Lifting: Occasionally lift or carry children or supplies (generally 25-40lbs).Bending/Kneeling: May need to get down to a child&rsquo;s level, assist in classroom activities, or respond to emergencies.Vision/Hearing: Sufficient to observe and monitor children, read reports, and communicate effectively.Manual Dexterity: Ability to use a computer, phone, and other office/classroom equipment.Stamina: Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with occasional stress.Speaking/Communications: Strong verbal communication needed for meetings, staff supervision, and family interactions.
