<div>Legal Assistant - Medicaid Eligibility Specialist - MO HealthNet/Long-Term Care Applications 
We are seeking a detail-oriented, compassionate, and highly organized Medicaid Eligibility Specialist to prepare, submit, and follow through on long-term-care Medicaid applications for clients. 
This is NOT a government caseworker position &mdash; it&rsquo;s a client-facing role inside a private elder law firm where you will have the time, support, and resources to do it right without overwhelming caseloads.
This position is ideal for:<ul><li>
Former or current DSS/FSD Eligibility Specialists</li><li>
Former Income Maintenance Caseworkers</li><li>
Hospital-based Medicaid Eligibility Workers</li><li>
Skilled nursing facility admissions/Medicaid coordinators</li><li>
Elder Law Firm Legal Assistants or Paralegals</li><li>
Anyone with hands-on MO HealthNet eligibility experience</li></ul>
Compensation:
$55,000
Responsibilities:<ul><li>
Prepare, submit, and manage MO HealthNet / Medicaid long-term-care applications</li><li>
Review client income, assets, bank statements, deeds, and financial documents</li><li>
Communicate with DSS caseworkers and follow up on application status</li><li>
Guide families through spend-down rules, asset documentation, and required verifications</li><li>
Maintain accurate case notes and workflow within our systems (Actionstep, Lawmatics)</li><li>
Work closely with attorneys, paralegals, and funding coordinators</li><li>
Provide updates to clients and explain Medicaid eligibility requirements in simple, understandable terms</li><li>
Track deadlines, respond to Requests for Information (RFI), and support clients through the approval process</li></ul>
This is a role where you are part of a team, not overwhelmed with 300+ cases and impossible deadlines.
Qualifications:
Required: Hands-on Missouri Medicaid eligibility experience<ul><li>
(MO HealthNet preferred; LTC experience strongly preferred)</li></ul>
Experience with:<ul><li>
DSS/FSD eligibility processing</li><li>
Nursing home Medicaid applications</li><li>
Spend-down rules</li><li>
Asset verification</li><li>
Adjusted income calculations</li><li>
Ability to explain complex rules in a clear, friendly, non-legal way</li><li>
Strong communication and client service skills</li><li>
High attention to detail and follow-through</li><li>
Ability to handle sensitive family situations with empathy</li></ul>
Preferred but not required:<ul><li>
Background in a hospital financial counseling or SNF admissions office</li>
Social work or human services background
