This role ensures that outdoor spaces remain safe, attractive, and accessible for community use. <div><h2 class="jobSectionHeader"><b>Detailed Work Activities</b></h2></div>
<p></p><div><p>Performs responsible skilled and semi-skilled work in the maintenance, repair and care of the Town&rsquo;s parks, facilities, athletic fields and related structures and equipment; Performs rough carpentry and painting in the repair, maintenance and construction of ground structures and equipment; Does related work in park and facility maintenance as required.<br>

Work is performed under regular supervision.

Essential Functions/Duties</div><ul><li>
Participates in the skilled and semi-skilled grounds, parks, facility, and field maintenance;</li><li>
Performs various duties associated with field preparation;</li><li>
Operates a variety of mowers, edgers, trimmers and blowers in grass cutting operations;</li><li>
Cuts, prunes and trims trees, shrubs, hedges and maintains landscaped areas;</li><li>
Performs rough carpentry and painting in the repair, maintenance and construction of ground structures and equipment;</li><li>
Assists in repairing irrigation and small equipment;</li><li>
Operates light automotive or power equipment in connection with above tasks;</li><li>
Assists department staff for the implementation of events and programs.</li><li>
Runs errands, picks up and delivers supplies and materials.?</li><li>
Assists in all areas of Recreation Maintenance as required.</li></ul></div><div><ul><li>

<p></p><div><div><p>EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:<br>

Required any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school, and some experience in grounds maintenance, sports turf maintenance and/or horticulture work.
</p><p>Preferred 3 years of documented experience in grounds maintenance, sports turf maintenance, horticulture and/or landscape work. <i>(Required for Park Maintenance Technician II. Must also be able to qualify on Town equipment by demonstrated ability to operate required equipment)</i><br>

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:<br>
<br>
Ability to push, pull, or lift 50 lbs.; manual dexterity required with ability to operate mowers, tractors, and other lawn equipment in a recreational environment such as an athletic field or park area.</p><p>
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:</p><p>
A North Carolina Driver&rsquo;s License is required.</p><p>
Preferred possession of a North Carolina Public Pesticides Operator's License issued by the state of North Carolina relating to the application of pesticides in Turf and Ornamentals.<i> (Required for Park Maintenance Technician II)</i></p><p>
Preferred possession of a North Carolina issued Class B Commercial Driver&rsquo;s License (CDL). <i>(Required for Park Maintenance Technician II)</i><br>
