Dr. LatifAhmad Pakistani

Associate Editor@Associate Editor at Anatomy, Physiology and Biochemistry International Journal CA 91320, USA

Pakistan

My career mission is to be a partner in supporting the world health through utilization of the professional knowledge and to offer education in veterinary pathology by organizational, teaching and presentation skills and demand driven training. Being committed to grant the best and the most updated services, I believe in honest analysis, instruction, investigation, public consultancy and outreach. After my graduation (2000) from Univ. Agric. Faisalabad, I was recruited as house officer (2001-2002) by L&DD Punjab (http://www.livestockpunjab.gov.pk/) and I worked as a consultant veterinary doctor. Thereafter, I rejoined UAF (http://www.uaf.edu.pk/) for post-graduation (2002) and worked as research fellow in Department of Pathology. Upon selection by Higher Education Commission (http://www.hec.gov.pk/Pages/HECMain.aspx) in a competition for PhD Merit Scholarship, I started working as a doctoral research fellow and a pathologist at Faisalabad. In recognition of my efforts, UAF conferred PhD upon me in 2010. In 2011, I joined as Assistant Professor of Pathology in University of Sargodha (http://uos.edu.pk/) for post-PhD fieldwork in veterinary and/or medical sciences to establish a career in research and educate people about my fields of specialization, especially haematology and histopathology.I am now working as Head of Department at Baqai College of Veterinary Sciences (BCVS), Baqai Medical University Karachi. Our institution believes in community oriented and community-based services without depending on the public sector. We started these services in the largest city of our beloved homeland under kind leadership of the pioneers of Medical Profession Prof. Dr. Farid Uddin Baqai (Late), Prof. Dr. Zahida Baqai and the Baqai Foundation. Baqai Foundation has started working in other cities of Pakistan, as well. As a veterinarian, I am optimistic that in future veterinary institutes will also be established in other cities of Pakistan by Baqai Foundation just like BCVS at Karachi, which started working in 2001. However, management hazards especially related to accreditation by Pakistan Veterinary Medical Council (PVMC) have forced even BCVS to stop new admissions of DVM. We hope good times for whole Pakistan, just as it escaped the CORONA and expect feasible managerial policies, in all fields including the veterinary education and research.

Biotechnology and genetic engineering has great potential to cope with the challenges but the materials and methods are very expensive and cannot apply on commercial scale in developing countries like Pakistan. My interest is to develop simple and cost effective genome editing systems in Pakistan through collaborations with international organizations who are passionate to work on SDGs in developing countries like Pakistan.
