I have been a scientist for more that 20 years, ultimately gaining experience in advanced molecular and cellular biology techniques using viral vectors applied to neurobiology and animal behavior. As a scientist, I take pride in being able to plan and execute experiments, analyze data, and publish papers in peer-reviewed journals. Over the years, I have developed innovative research projects which focused on the identification and manipulation of genes that are regulated in psychiatric disorders such as addiction, depression, anxiety, and autism. Through this work, I used a variety of techniques in my research areas which include molecular biology, cell biology and animal behavior. In particular, I use cutting-edge cellular and molecular technologies such as viral vectors-mediated (Adeno-Associated Viruses and lentiviruses) expression of siRNA’s and microRNAs manipulation in behaving animals. Truly putting my skills to good use by training students and technical assistants to help them think deferentially and coaching the talent I work with to attain the attainable is what motivates me to continuously improve in this ever evolving field of research. I am always striving to bring 100% to the work that I do, and my goal as a researcher and teacher is to build strong, long-term, mutually beneficial collaborative relationships with students, mentors, colleagues, and collaborators. When I am not working, I am usually with my kids, who love to run and play outside even more than I do. I am very much a kid at heart, love to read, watch tennis (Unconditional Federer fan!!), and travel whenever I can.
