Growing up in a major city like Dubai, I was always captivated by the city's enormous structures and rapid growth in construction. When I visited my hometown in India, being a developing country, I could see many scopes for the structural field. This is my motivation to pursue Master of Science in Civil Engineering. I learned Civil Engineering principles that are relevant to most machines and tools as a Civil Engineering undergraduate student with a strong interest in the industrial environment. Another factor that drew me to this field was my father as he is a Structural Engineer himself. STAAD Pro, ETABS, and AutoCAD were among the design programs he introduced me to. My biggest aspiration is to get a chance to be a part of constructing such beautiful buildings so I can further contribute to the beauty of the skyline. Due to my interest in the field of Civil Engineering and impressive performance in high school, I secured a seat in National Institute of Technology Karnataka, India. My undergraduate program exposed me to various topics like Structural Analysis, Bridge Engineering, Design of Steel Structures, and Applied Soil Mechanics, among others. My undergraduate was a good experience since I was able to visit various labs on the campus, giving me the opportunity to explore Civil Engineering applications. During my undergraduate studies, I worked on a project called Wind and Seismic Loads on High Rise Buildings with Various Shear Wall Configurations, in which we used STAAD Pro software to design high rise buildings in Mizoram that were subjected to wind and seismic loads, as well as to determine relative stability and economy of buildings with various shear wall configurations. We learnt that the designs are definitely safer with the frame with shear walls, and while it is a bit more expensive, it is highly effective in terms of structural stability. During my undergrad, I was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), a Civil Engineering club where we had the opportunity to work on numerous projects. I'm also a member of Rotaract, a social service organization whose mission is to give back to the community. We conduct charity events, discussion programs, and create blogs.
