Dr. Mohana Krishna Reddy Mudiam completed his Masters in Chemistry from NIT, Warangal in 1999. He received his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 2005. Then after, he joined as Scientist at CSIR-IITR, Lucknow, India. He received a BOYSCAST fellowship to pursue his postdoctoral work at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions, Baltimore/USA in 2007. His group research interests are mainly focused in understanding the occurrence, fate, transport and accumulation of chemicals in Food, Environment and Biological samples using latest analytical and metabolomics approaches. His expertise in analytical chemistry, chemometrics, organic and biochemistry has helped him to design novel analytical strategies for the analysis of xenobiotics and their biotransformed products in complex matrices very effectively. Dr. Mudiam group has maintained their laboratory as per ISO 17025 standard (NABL accreditation) and GLP compliance (as per OECD principles) in the area of contaminants and pharmaceuticals analyses. His recent focus is to establish GLP compliant analytical facility for the Biosimilars characterization sponsored by BIRAC is in progress. He continuously engaged in conducting skill development programs in the area of Analytical and Bioanalytical Chemistry to postgraduate students and Staff of Analytical Testing Laboratories. Till now, 11 students completed their PhD degree from his laboratory and presently 08 PhD students and 15 Staff (Scientists, Tech Staff, RAs and PAs) are working in his group. He is instrumental in holding National and International Seminars in Analytical Chemistry with eminent national and international speakers from various countries. His research efforts yielded 104 publications with more than 3350 citations (h index of 37). He is serving various national committees in capacity as Chairman/Member. He visited countries like Australia, China, France, Germany, Taiwan and USA as part of his scientific collaborations and/or assignments. Dr. N.C. Mondal received B.Sc. Physics (Hons.) degree from Burdwan University, West Bengal and M.Sc. Tech. Geophysics from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He obtained his Ph.D. in Geophysics from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 2005, and also pursued Advance Groundwater Modeling Study at Texas A&M University, Texas, USA under the BOYSCAST Programme (DST, GoI). Presently Dr. Mondal is working as a Principal Scientist of Earth Process Modeling Group, CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, Hyderabad, India & holding Faculty Position of Physical Sciences, Academy of Scientific & Innovative Research (AcSIR). His principal research topics encompassed in groundwater exploration, hydrochemistry, aquifer modeling and entropy theory in water resources. He has developed (1) efficient & versatile technique for estimation of groundwater potential zones, (2) an Index called Saline Water Mixing Index (SWMI) for evaluating the relative degrees of saline water mixing, (3) a new innovative entropy-based model for assessing natural groundwater reserve, and (4) also interaction-based model for assessing the degrees of hydrogeological vulnerability. Dayakar Rao a Principal Scientist has made credible achievements in the area of Agriculture Economics/ Food Science/ Nutrition/ Technology/ Engineering through the following contributions. ❖ Value chain development in sorghum/millets: - Instrumental in developing a nationally recognized model on Millets Value chain with on-farm production, diversified processing, product development (50 products), retrofitting machinery (30 nos.), nutritional evaluation, commercialization (“eatrite” brand)& marketing. - Millets entrepreneurship development, policy sensitization and popularization measures in an integrated manner were developed for the first time in the country, and rated highly satisfactory by The World bank. ❖ Nodal officer of INSIMP an Rs. 300 crore initiative by DAC, Ministry of Agriculture, GoI resulting in setting up 400 millet processing clusters across the country with backstopping support by IIMR. ❖ Public-Private Partnerships: Created significant public awareness and demand for value-added millet products and technologies as health food leading to several public-private partnerships. - Helped to enter 33 MoUs including NRDC, M/s Britannia Industries Ltd, Big Bazaar in various areas such as R&D, commercialization, distribution and technology licensing. ❖ Established Leadership in establishing Centre of Excellence on Sorghum processing in India. ❖ Established the NIELAN (Nesting Incubation and Entrepreneurship, Leveraging Agri-Innovation in Nutricereals), the First of its kind in the ICAR family dealing with focused incubation on Nutricereals. ❖ Brought out a strategy paper “Strategies in Millets Production, Consumption and Utilization for Doubling Farmers’ Income” released by Dr Ashok Dalwai, Addl.
