Having completed my studies in The Sultan’s School in 1998, I then travelled to the United Kingdom to complete my bachelor’s degree from Royal Holloway (University of London) in 2004 achieving an overall Second-Class Honours (Upper Division) in BSc Economics. I then pursued further studies (Master’s degree) in The School of Oriental and African Studies (University of London) in 2005 where I achieved an overall Merit in MSc Development Economics. Upon completion, I was nominated from a range of Omanis to do a three-month internship program at the World Trade Organisation in 2005 where I worked on the World Trade Report, analysing the unique and individual ways countries subsidies their industrial and service sectors. Before this internship, I also did two summer internship programs (2003 & 2004) in Standard Chartered Bank (London) where I worked in the Group Corporate Treasury Department and researched various innovative ways to raise sustainable capital in the fourteen African countries that Standard Chartered Bank operates in. Upon my return to Oman in January 2006, I was appointed as an Assistant Secretary General for the Cabinet of the Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, as well as, Member of the Steering Committee for Peaceful Nuclear Technology and Member of the Supreme Committee of the Royal Opera House Muscat. Finally, I have also been nominated as the Patron for the Oman Road Safety Association from 2010 to 2014. In April 2009, I started an MBA with the University of Strathclyde and graduated in January 2013 top of the class with a Distinction. Being appointed as a member of the Board of Directors of the Royal Opera House Muscat at that time in 2011, I took that opportunity to write my thesis about the Royal Opera House Muscat which was titled “Royal Opera House Muscat: The Cultural, Economic and Strategic Implications” in which I was also awarded a Distinction. In January 2019, I was nominated as the Chairman of ITHCA Group. This newly established group is committed to be a driving force in propelling Oman’s ICT sector and play an active role in contributing to Oman's economic diversification and sustainable growth. In 2021 I was nominated as a member of The Supreme Committee of the Satellite Project In June of 2022 I was very honoured to be appointed as the Secretary General in the General Secretariat to the Cabinet with Special Grade In 2023, I was awarded a PhD in Political Economy from King’s College London. I got married in 2011 to Rania Mazen Al-Amad and have four children: Malak, Fahad, Nabil and Majid.
