Over the past 30 years of my professional life, I have developed the skill of conducting output oriented policy research by working in internationally reputed research centers including World Bank, IRRI, IFPRI, USAID, World Vegetable Center, etc. where I had the opportunities to interact with the national and international leaders in the agriculture sectors. The rigorous analyses conducted also gifted me with an impressive writing skills enabling me to publish papers in large numbers in international refereed journals, reviewed book chapters, technical reports, etc. The area of special interest include food security, value chain and sector analyses, productivity and sustainability, peri-urban analysis, consumers demand for quality, etc. In getting the policy reforms instituted based on the evidence-based research, negotiation and communication skills are important, that were developed by making it a challenge to get the research outcome implemented. Some examples of significant impact of my research are establishment of new institutions including Punjab Agriculture Board (Pakistan), Agriculture Economic Analyses Unit in Research Institute of RIFAV (in Hanoi), and now Center for Rural Economy (in Pakistan), promoting modern vegetable variety testing program in Afghanistan and socioeconomic analyses of peri-urban technologies in Indochina countries. Recognition of my work on impact evaluation of mungbean in south Asia not only got a presidential award from the Government of Taiwan, but also instigated donners interest to spread new mungbean varieties of AVRDC throughout South Asia. My analyses also contributed reforming AVRDC research program in Taiwan during mid1990s and early 2000s and PARC in Pakistan in 2013, My methodology papers on TFP, supply response, and efficiency are widely cited.
