Hakim Saibi is a distinguished Professor at the Geosciences Department of UAE University, where he has been teaching and conducting research since 2017. With an extensive background spanning over two decades, he specializes in exploration geophysics applied to diverse fields including environmental, geothermal, and geological studies. Hakim is recently involved in developing new geophysical techniques for subsurface exploration of the Moon. His recent research involves artificial intelligence applications in geophysics. Hakim has published more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, covering geophysical, geothermal, and hydrogeological issues from various countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. He holds a Doctor of Engineering degree in Earth Resources Engineering and a Business and Management degree from Kyushu University, Japan. He has received several awards and honors, including the Chancellor’s Innovation Award (Feb. 2022) for his lightweight resistivity meter and the SEG Award (Dec. 2022) for Scientific Contributions in the region. He is an active member and chair of several technical committees for international conferences and societies, such as the Society of Exploration Geophysicists. His research is innovative in integrating the different geophysical techniques in pursuit of subsurface resources, especially different forms of renewable energy for example geothermal.
