Duties
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards in literacy, math, science, social studies, and physical education.
- Foster a positive classroom environment through effective classroom management and behavior guidance techniques.
- Incorporate learning technology and digital resources to enhance student engagement and understanding.
- Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparations.
- Support early childhood development by integrating age-appropriate activities that promote social skills, emotional regulation, and independence.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum development initiatives and participate in school-wide events.
- Provide mentorship and support to students with special needs or those requiring early intervention strategies, including working with children with autism.
- Communicate effectively with parents and guardians regarding student progress, behavior, and upcoming activities.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, assessments, lesson plans, and student portfolios.
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to childhood education, behavior management, literacy education, and teaching physical education.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field; additional certification in elementary or early childhood education preferred.
- Proven classroom experience working with 2nd-grade students or similar age groups.
- Strong knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education.
- Experience with curriculum development, lesson planning, and integrating learning technology tools.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with colleagues, parents, and students.
- Familiarity with standardized testing procedures and assessment methods for young learners.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior proactively using positive reinforcement techniques.
- Experience working with children requiring special education services or behavioral support plans is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of Montessori or other alternative educational philosophies is a plus.
