Job Summary
We are seeking a technically skilled and detail-driven 3D Laser Scanning & Modeling Engineer to lead scanning, modeling, and data acquisition projects across industrial, marine, and construction environments. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with point cloud processing, clash detection, and digital twin generation, ensuring precision and compliance with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Engineering & Execution
- Lead planning and execution of scanning and modeling projects across onshore and offshore marine assets, industrial plants, and construction sites.
- Define project scopes, schedules, and resource plans in coordination with engineering and operations teams.
- Troubleshoot field challenges and implement corrective actions to ensure timely and accurate deliverables.
- Liaise with clients, shipyard teams, and project managers to assess requirements and propose scanning strategies.
- Conduct site visits—including vessels, shipyards, and marine terminals—to evaluate conditions and tailor scanning approaches.
- Manage vendor coordination, equipment procurement, and logistics for field operations.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, ASTM, ASME, and marine classification standards.
Point Cloud Processing & Modeling
- Process point cloud data using FARO Scene, Autodesk ReCap, Trimble Real Works, and Cloud Compare.
- Generate 3D models, as-built documentation, and digital twins for marine structures, hulls, piping systems, and retrofit projects.
- Facilitate clash detection and interference analysis to ensure design compatibility.
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams and marine clients throughout modeling and review phases.
3D Scanning & Data Acquisition
- Conduct terrestrial and marine-based 3D scanning using FARO, BLK 360, TRIMBLE TX8, and WINGTRA 1776.
- Align scanning outputs with GA, P&ID, and structural drawings for accuracy.
- Implement efficient scanning techniques for retrofit, revamp, and marine engineering applications.
- Capture complex geometries including ship hulls, engine rooms, pipe racks, and offshore platforms.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure data integrity and modeling accuracy in marine and coastal environments.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 3–5 years of experience in survey, inspection, and 3D scanning
- Proficiency in FARO Scene, Autodesk ReCap, Trimble Real Works, Cloud Compare
- Skilled in MS Office, AutoCAD, and basic Linux/Mac environments
- Certification in GPR and 3D Laser Scanning (preferred)
- Experience in marine scanning projects or shipyard environments is a strong advantage
