Summary

The Manager, Carrier actively manage, lead and develop your Carrier Pod(s) employees with the responsibilities of overall development of CSP employees in your pod(s). Accountable for board management and sourcing capacity in your Pod(s) to meet/achieve Pod(s) goals.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Identify gaps in knowledge and skills and create/implement plans for development through appropriate training.
  • Maximize the productivity of the team by emphasizing static/dedicated route business.
  • Consistently monitor and track developmental goals, performance goals, and action steps on defined objectives.
  • Ensure that all Carrier Sales Department employees on your Pod(s) are focused on appropriate priorities to maximize a positive impact for overall Pod business, work with Carrier Account Managers & Carrier Representatives in your Pod(s) to drive daily focus.
  • Understand & drive high level strategy in your Pod(s) to ensure internal and external business alignment with your Pod growth strategies.
  • Proactively engage with priority accounts to evaluate Carrier Pod(s) needs, gaps, and identify future actions to achieve overall account goals, understand aligned accounts and drive improved business results.
  • Analyze market and competition to understand current market changes and adapt strategy to achieve competitive edge in the marketplace.
  • Analyze and assess Pod carrier portfolio to identify strengths and weaknesses of provider coverage.
  • Responsible for your Pod board management.
  • Ensure lane matching (combo selling) is happening as often as possible.
  • Research new carriers in the marketplace, generated leads and qualified new carrier relationships.
  • Calling carriers on a daily basis to determine carrier availability and negotiate the nest rates possible.
  • Responsible for pending carrier claims.
  • Minimize accessorial, addressing them in a timely fashion to increase pod(s) profitability.
  • Ensure every load possible is on Macropoint/GPS tracking.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent related work or military experience
  • 3 year of experience in related logistics or transportation
  • 1 year mentoring leading employees
  • Ability to communicate with credibility and build customer relationships
  • Advance Excel skills and the ability to learn required software
