Job Description

Purpose of the role

The financial planning & cost control specialist is responsible for overseeing financial planning, reporting, and control of production and supply chain costs. This role ensures effective tracking, analysis, and optimization of raw materials, utilities, and operational expenses to enhance financial transparency and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Track actual production against standard yield and consumption ratios (raw materials & utilities) across all plants and auxiliaries.
  • Monitor raw material consumption, identify off-spec or hydrolyzed production, and take corrective actions to maximize recovery and minimize losses.
  • Ensure accurate and reconciled inventory balances for raw materials, finished goods, and spare parts.
  • Develop and maintain operational reports, including kpis for production and auxiliary departments, ensuring continuous review and accuracy of submitted data.
  • Establish the cogs budget (including direct and indirect costs) and track variances against actuals.
  • Provide timely financial insights to plant leadership and key stakeholders for data-driven decision-making.
  • Prepare capital expenditure budgets and ensure effective spending.
  • Collaborate with departmental heads to identify process improvements, cost-saving opportunities, and waste reduction strategies.
  • Support procurement strategy optimization for direct and indirect materials, including re-order levels and vendor locking.
  • Assist materials and stores teams in evaluating optimum inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstocking.
  • Evaluate and track returns on investment activities at the plant.
  • Review and approve service invoices based on completed work at the plant.
  • Ensure effective application of sap in plant operations, including maintenance, production, and materials management.
  • Develop and implement financial control mechanisms to safeguard company assets and maintain financial transparency.

  • Proficiency in sap and other financial planning tools.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with production, procurement, and finance teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a data-driven mindset.
