Job Description: Mechanical Engineer (Structural Automotive Modifications)

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with expertise in structural modifications, precision engineering, and chassis integration for a custom automotive project. The ideal candidate should be skilled in aluminum-to-steel bonding, frame alignment, wheelbase accuracy, and mechanical supervision. This role involves technical sketching, CAD modeling,
and overseeing structural enhancements to ensure proper vehicle body integration and load distribution.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Precision Measurement & Wheelbase Accuracy – Ensure accurate alignment of structural components.

✔ Chassis & Body Integration Supervision – Oversee mechanics in executing proper body attachment methods.

✔ Aluminum-to-Steel Bonding & Structural Integrity – Ensure correct use of self-piercing rivets, adhesives, and corrosion protection.

✔ Technical Sketching & CAD Modeling – Create diagrams and structural drawings to guide modifications.

✔ Load Distribution & Reinforcement Planning – Ensure mounting points and reinforcements maintain structural integrity.

✔ Problem-Solving & Research – Adapt and apply correct bonding techniques and material joining solutions.

✔ Compliance & Quality Control – Verify that all modifications adhere to technical and safety guidelines.

Required Skills & Qualifications

✔ Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

✔ Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Fusion 360) for technical drawing and body integration planning.

✔ Strong understanding of chassis structures, load distribution, and vehicle modifications.

✔ Familiarity with aluminum-to-steel integration techniques (riveting, bonding, and corrosion prevention).

✔ Proficient in using measurement tools (calipers, laser alignment, and geometric dimensioning).

✔ Ability to communicate technical instructions to workshop mechanics

✔ Problem-solving and research skills – Able to analyze challenges and apply structural solutions.

✔ Previous experience with vehicle chassis modifications or restorations is a plus, but not mandatory.

Preferred (But Not Mandatory) Experience

✔ Experience working in structural vehicle modifications or body integration.

✔ Knowledge of structural adhesives (3M 08115, Lord Fusor 112B) and self-piercing rivets (SPR Stanley Avdel®).

✔ Ability to adapt and create bolt-on bracket solutions for frame-body mounting.

✔ Experience supervising a team of mechanics or fabricators.
