Job Description

Role Overview:

The Ecommerce Product Hunter will be responsible for discovering, sourcing, and recommending trending products that align with our brand and customer needs. You will research market trends, analyze competitor offerings, and identify high-potential products that will drive sales and customer engagement. Your role is key to expanding our product offerings, keeping our inventory fresh, and staying ahead of market trends.

Key Responsibilities:

Product Research & Trend Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough market research to identify new and emerging product trends across various ecommerce platforms, social media, and consumer behavior data.
  • Utilize tools like Google Trends, AliExpress, Amazon, and other product discovery platforms to identify high-potential products.
  • Stay on top of industry trends, competitor product launches, and customer feedback to keep our product selection competitive and innovative.

Sourcing & Supplier Relations:

  • Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and wholesalers to source new products.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure profitability and timely product availability.
  • Evaluate product quality, cost, and demand to recommend which products should be added to the store’s inventory.

Product Evaluation & Testing:

  • Assess product viability through market demand, profit margins, and potential sales volume.
  • Test new products through small-scale launches to evaluate customer interest and feedback.
  • Work with the ecommerce team to create product listings, write compelling descriptions, and optimize product pages for SEO.

Competitive Analysis:

  • Monitor competitor product catalogs and market trends to identify gaps and opportunities in our product offerings.
  • Conduct regular product performance analysis and adjust product sourcing strategies based on sales data and customer feedback.

Collaboration with Marketing and Sales Teams:

  • Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to align product selection with campaigns, promotions, and seasonal trends.
  • Provide product insights and recommendations for sales-focused initiatives such as bundle deals, discounts, or product launches.

Reporting & Analytics:

  • Keep track of product performance and trends in sales, customer engagement, and profit margins.
  • Provide regular updates and reports on product sourcing activities and upcoming product recommendations.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Proven experience in ecommerce, product sourcing, or product management, preferably in a direct-to-consumer (DTC) or online retail environment.
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce platforms like Shopify, Amazon, or eBay, and the ability to navigate product sourcing tools such as AliExpress, Oberlo, or similar platforms.
  • Experience working with suppliers, manufacturers, or wholesalers to source products.

Skills:

  • Strong research skills with the ability to spot trends and evaluate product potential.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to assess market data, customer behavior, and sales performance.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively negotiate with suppliers and work cross-functionally with other teams.
  • Knowledge of ecommerce SEO best practices and how to create compelling product listings.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with dropshipping and print-on-demand business models.
  • Previous experience in trendspotting or product curation for ecommerce.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically to expand the product catalog in line with market demand.
