Job Description

Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic team in Dubai. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all cost-related aspects of construction projects, from initial estimates to final accounts. This role requires a strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and contract administration, along with excellent negotiation and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Cost Estimation and Control:
  • Prepare accurate cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities (BOQs) for various construction projects.
  • Monitor and control project costs throughout the construction process.
  • Conduct cost analysis and value engineering to optimize project budgets.
  • Prepare and submit cost reports and forecasts to project managers and clients.
  • Contract Administration:
  • Assist in the preparation and administration of construction contracts.
  • Evaluate and process contractor payment applications and variations.
  • Negotiate and resolve contractual disputes and claims.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant contractual obligations.
  • Measurement and Valuation:
  • Perform accurate measurement and valuation of construction works.
  • Prepare and submit interim valuations and final accounts.
  • Conduct site visits to verify quantities and progress.
  • Maintain accurate records of all measurements and valuations.
  • Procurement and Subcontract Management:
  • Assist in the procurement of materials and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate subcontractor quotations and negotiate rates.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with contract terms.
  • Local Market Knowledge:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local market prices, materials, and regulations.
  • Understand and comply with Dubai Municipality and other relevant authorities' requirements.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contracts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum [Number] years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in the UAE or the Middle East.
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and cost management principles.
  • Proficiency in relevant software, such as AutoCAD, CostX, or similar.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid UAE Driver's licence is often preferred.
  • Familiarity with local building codes.
