
An Assistant HVAC Technician assists in the installation, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The position requires an individual with a basic understanding of HVAC systems, tools, and techniques to support more experienced technicians in their daily tasks. The Assistant HVAC Technician will gain hands-on experience in performing routine maintenance, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring HVAC systems operate efficiently and safely.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Installation Support:
Assist senior technicians with the installation of HVAC systems, including air conditioners, heaters, ductwork, and related components.
- Maintenance:
Perform routine maintenance tasks on HVAC systems, such as cleaning filters, checking refrigerant levels, and inspecting components for wear and tear.
- Repairs:
Assist with troubleshooting and repairing HVAC systems by diagnosing problems and replacing faulty parts or components.
- System Testing:
Test HVAC systems after installation or repair to ensure proper functioning, including checking airflow, temperature, and pressure levels.
- Tools and Equipment Handling:
Use and maintain HVAC tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
- Customer Service:
Communicate effectively with clients to understand service needs, provide updates on service progress, and address basic customer inquiries.
- Safety and Compliance:
Adhere to all safety regulations and standards, ensuring safe handling of refrigerants and electrical systems. Follow all procedures to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Documentation:
Assist in documenting service activities, including work performed, parts used, and recommendations for future maintenance or repairs.
- Team Collaboration:
Work closely with senior HVAC technicians and other maintenance personnel to complete tasks and projects efficiently.
Qualifications:
- Experience:
Previous experience in HVAC support roles or related field
- Knowledge of HVAC systems and components.
- Ability to use hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols and regulations.
- Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift heavy objects, work in various environments (indoors and outdoors), and perform tasks that may involve bending, kneeling, and standing for long periods.
