
The General Manager – Logistics is responsible for end-to-end supply chain management, including transportation, warehousing, inventory control, and distribution. This role focuses on optimizing logistics operations, reducing costs, improving service levels, and ensuring regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, deep industry knowledge, and experience in leveraging technology to enhance logistics performance.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Logistics Strategy & Operations
- Develop and execute logistics strategies that align with business goals and drive efficiency.
- Improve transportation planning, warehouse operations, and order fulfillment processes.
- Implement best practices in cost reduction, service improvement, and risk management.
- Work closely with procurement, sales, and customer service teams to ensure seamless supply chain coordination.
2. Warehouse & Inventory Management
- Oversee warehouse operations to ensure accurate inventory management and timely deliveries.
- Implement warehouse management systems (WMS) for better stock visibility and control.
- Optimize inventory levels to minimize holding costs while ensuring product availability.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards in warehouse operations.
3. Transportation & Distribution
- Manage relationships with freight carriers, third-party logistics (3PL) providers, and customs authorities.
- Ensure on-time delivery performance through effective route planning and fleet management.
- Optimize transportation costs using route efficiency, load consolidation, and carrier negotiations.
- Monitor shipment tracking systems to enhance visibility and improve customer service.
4. Vendor & Supplier Management
- Negotiate contracts and service agreements with logistics partners to improve cost efficiency.
- Evaluate vendor performance using key metrics such as on-time delivery, service quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate supply chain disruptions.
5. Cost Control & Financial Management
- Develop and manage the logistics budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness in operations.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in transportation, warehousing, and procurement.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as freight costs, inventory turnover, and order fulfillment rates.
6. Compliance & Risk Management
- Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs laws, and environmental policies.
- Implement safety and security measures to protect goods and personnel.
- Develop business continuity and risk mitigation plans to handle potential supply chain disruptions.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in logistics and supply chain management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong understanding of transportation management, warehousing, and distribution strategies.
- Experience with ERP, WMS, and TMS (Transportation Management Systems).
- Ability to analyze data and implement process improvements.
