The Role

RAK Academy, Khuzam School is looking for a positive, driven and inspirational Librarian role to join the team responsible for developing and managing a dynamic, bilingual (Arabic and English) learning environment that supports student inquiry, literacy, and research skills.

Essential

• Bachelor’s degree in library science or library services.
• Experience in managing and working in school libraries.
• Passion for reading, literacy, study, research and a love of books (e-books and traditional).
• An ability to develop modern approaches to library provision linked to supporting curriculum outcomes.
• Strong ability to use technology to support teaching and learning.
• Confidence in managing library software.
• The ability to engage, motivate and support children, staff and parents.
• Reflective practice with the ability to think creatively and innovate.
• Positivity and enthusiasm working with children.
• Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with teachers and school leaders.
• Willingness to be fully involved in extra-curricular activities.
• Most importantly, fully subscribe to the maxim that “all decision-making will be based on what is best for our learners.

Desirable

• Strong and proven track record of leading library services in a bilingual setting.
• International Baccalaureate experience and knowledge
• National Curriculum for England experience and knowledge
• Proven ability to drive forward positive change in an educational context.
• Experience in working in the United Arabic Emirates (UAE) – highly desirable

Welcome to RAK Academy. We have been delivering international education in the beautiful emirate of Ras Al Khaimah since 1975. We offer both the UK curriculum and the International Baccalaureate across all stages of education, including Early Years, Primary School, and Secondary School. Our UK curriculum is implemented across our three branches: Khuzam, Al Hamra, and Al Rams. This curriculum follows the standards set by the United Kingdom and ensures that students receive a well-rounded education in line with international benchmarks.

In addition to the UK curriculum, we are proud to offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) at our Khuzam branch. The IB consists of two programs: The Primary Years Programme (PYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). These internationally recognised programs encourage critical thinking, creativity, and a holistic approach to education, empowering students to become lifelong learners and global citizens.
