About Aldenham Prep Riyadh
Aldenham Prep School Riyadh Offers Day Education for boys and girls from 3-13 to develop and thrive in a creative and caring environment.
Aldenham Prep Riyadh is part of the Aldenham Education Group and is integrated closely with Aldenham School in the UK, which was founded in 1597. Boys and girls have the opportunity for a smooth transition of education from 3-18 years, focussing on developing the whole child. An excellent all round education.
We are proud to be bringing this same quality of education to Riyadh, and the links between the two schools will be extremely strong. Such links across cultures and countries are ever more important in preparing our children for the global and interconnected world they will inhabit when they leave school.
Our Mission Statement states that:
‘At Aldenham Prep School, we provide a happy, nurturing and warm environment
where quality learning takes place and the needs of each individual child are fulfilled.’
The school is dedicated to ensuring the flexibility for each child to develop his/her own individual abilities and academic excellences whilst meeting new challenges. In short, we provide the highest standards of education, which promote the development of all-around talents, whether they be academic, creative, or sporting.
We offer all of our pupils exceptional opportunities. Our boys and girls are at the heart of all we do. The children are Aldenham.
Our Key Aims:
To encourage a love of learning in order to aspire to academic excellence and a broad education for all pupils
To foster good relationships and partnership between staff, pupils, parents and the wider community
To ensure that each individual pupil is nurtured and encouraged to make the most of their own special talents
To emphasise the importance of the social, moral and spiritual dimensions of community life in a modern society
To provide a well planned, well organised environment giving children rich and stimulating experiences
We believe very strongly in offering breadth within our curriculum, so that the all round talents of each individual child may be developed. This involves promoting the academic, creative and sporting facets of school life, as well as fostering children’s natural curiosity, in order to empower them with a life long love of learning.
The timetable consists of English, Maths and Science, as well as ICT, Art, DT, Geography and History. There is also specialist teaching in Drama, Music, PE & Games (including swimming).
Saudi culture and Arabic language
The Aldenham curriculum is tailored to fit with our local Riyadh setting. Arabic language, Islamic Studies and Social Studies are central and important components of our curriculum, and we are careful to ensure that our whole curriculum, whilst British in nature and based on our UK School curriculum, is set truely in the context of being a School in the Kingdom. Arabic language, for instance, is offered from the Lower School onwards and is delivered by subject specialist teachers.
Parents are kept well informed of their children’s learning through lists of curriculum topics and curriculum evenings at the start of each year.
Aldenham has a strong tradition of Sport. Games and Physical Education are a very important part of life at the Prep School. Each class has one PE lesson per week with a specialist teacher and a Games afternoon. There is also a weekly swimming lesson.
Major sports are Football, Netball, Hockey, Cricket and Basketball. The children also have the opportunity to experience a number of minor sports such as Badminton, Climbing and Trampolining.
Aldenham in the UK:
The Flagship of the Aldenham Foundation and founded in 1597, Aldenham UK is steeped in history with hundreds of years of academic excellence. It embodies the best of timeless traditions and universal values, along with a documented history of a forward-thinking culture that has differentiated it from its peers.
At Aldenham we remember that achievement is an individual matter, be it entry to an Oxbridge college, a sporting or cultural goal or it may simply involve growing up into a well-balanced individual. Dedicated teaching is at the heart of this endeavour as we help our students to focus on their own plans, while our teachers focus on our students.
In 1596, Queen Elizabeth I gave royal assent for the founding of a school to Richard Platt, a nobleman and philanthropist. Aldenham School was established and the foundation stone was laid in 1597. This School had, and still has, at its heart the concept of an all round education. Unlike some other schools established at that time, Aldenham looked beyond the solely classical education to include even such things as ‘archery’ in the curriculum, in recognition that body, mind and spirit all needed to be developed. This focus on educating the whole child runs deep through the Aldenham veins and we are proud that hundreds of years later it is still what we are famous for.
Aldenham School in the UK has been educating children on the same original glorious site, with easy access to central London and all that the capital offers. An Aldenham education has the perfect blend of history and tradition with a modern focus. We use our experience and wisdom from the past to prepare our students to navigate a path into the future.
