Job Description

Responsibilities:

  • Baking Operations:
  • Prepare and bake a variety of goods, including bread, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked items, following established recipes and quality standards.
  • Monitor baking temperatures, times, and ingredient measurements to achieve desired results.
  • Menu Development:
  • Collaborate with culinary and food service teams to develop and update menus, taking into consideration seasonal availability and special dietary requirements.
  • Stay informed about food trends and incorporate innovative baking techniques and ingredients.
  • Quality Control:
  • Conduct regular quality checks on ingredients and finished products to ensure consistency and adherence to standards.
  • Address any issues related to product quality and adjust recipes or processes as needed.
  • Inventory Management:
  • Monitor and manage inventory of baking ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain adequate stock levels.
  • Minimize waste by implementing efficient production and inventory control practices.
  • Sanitation and Safety:
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines, ensuring a clean and organized work environment.
  • Train and supervise staff on proper hygiene and safety procedures.
  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other kitchen staff, chefs, and catering teams to coordinate production schedules and meet service demands.
  • Participate in menu planning meetings and contribute to the development of new recipes.
  • Customer Service:
  • Interact with customers, gather feedback, and make adjustments to recipes based on customer preferences.
  • Provide information about ingredients, allergens, and nutritional content as needed.
  • Equipment Maintenance:
  • Ensure proper maintenance and cleaning of baking equipment to prolong their lifespan and prevent malfunctions.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a baker, preferably in a high-volume food service environment.
  • Knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; formal culinary or baking education is a plus.

Certifications:

  • Food handler's permit or other relevant certifications as required by local health regulations.
