
Job Purpose:
Al Alia for Maintenance & Agriculture Seeking for Bio-Flooring Engineer specializes in the design, development, and implementation of environmentally sustainable and health-conscious flooring systems, often using biodegradable, recycled, or bio-based materials. Their role typically spans materials science, manufacturing, environmental engineering, and construction standards.
Key Responsibilities:
_ Research & Development:_
- Investigate and develop new bio-based or sustainable flooring materials (e.g., bamboo, cork, linoleum, recycled plastics).
- Test the durability, toxicity, environmental impact, and performance of materials
_ Product Design & Engineering:_
- Design flooring systems that meet industry standards for structural integrity, acoustics, and indoor air quality.
- Integrate eco-friendly adhesives, finishes, and underlayment.
_ Sustainability & Compliance:_
- Ensure all products meet environmental regulations and sustainability certifications (e.g., LEED, Cradle to Cradle, ISO 14001).
- Conduct life cycle assessments (LCA) for materials and products.
_ Quality Assurance:_
- Develop and implement quality control procedures during production.
- Monitor wear resistance, anti-slip properties, and moisture control features.
_ Collaboration & Project Management:_
- Work with architects, designers, and construction teams to implement flooring solutions.
- Oversee installation processes to ensure adherence to specifications.
Technical Documentation & Reporting:
- Create technical specifications, safety data sheets, and test reports.
- Maintain documentation for regulatory approvals and patents.
_ Process Optimization_
- Improve manufacturing efficiency and reduce waste and emissions during production.
- Identify cost-effective, sustainable sourcing options.
_ Customer & Technical Support_
- Provide technical guidance to clients, distributors, and installation teams.
- Train stakeholders on the proper use, care, and disposal of bio-flooring systems.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or specialization in sustainable materials or green building technologies is preferred.
Experience:
- 2–5 years of experience in flooring technology, biomaterials, sustainable construction, or product development.
- Hands-on experience with material testing, manufacturing processes, or LCA tools is an asset.
Certifications (Preferred):
- LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
- Certified Green Professional (CGP)
- ISO 14001 Environmental Management training
Technical Skills:
- Strong knowledge of bio-based materials, polymers, composites, and adhesives.
- Familiarity with CAD software and simulation tools for materials design.
- Understanding of flooring standards (ASTM, ISO, EN) and green building codes.
Project Management:
- Ability to lead R&D or implementation projects from concept to deployment.
- Time management and budgeting skills for engineering projects.
Analytical Skills:
- Ability to perform life cycle analysis (LCA) and environmental impact assessments.
- Data-driven approach to testing material properties and performance.
