Job Description

Job Summary:

The Document Controller is responsible for managing, organizing, and maintaining project documentation in a systematic and efficient manner. This role ensures that all project documents, including drawings, reports, correspondence, and specifications, are properly filed, updated, and accessible to all stakeholders. The Document Controller plays a vital role in maintaining compliance with industry standards and supporting smooth communication across project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and maintain document control systems for managing project documentation (e.g., drawings, RFIs, submittals, contracts).
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation, receipt, and distribution of all controlled documents.
  • Maintain electronic and hard copy filing systems in accordance with company and project-specific procedures.
  • Track the status of documents, ensuring timely review, approval, and return.
  • Assign document numbers, revision numbers, and manage version control.
  • Coordinate with engineers, architects, contractors, and other stakeholders for documentation needs.
  • Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of sensitive project documentation.
  • Conduct periodic audits of document control processes and archives.
  • Support project teams by retrieving requested documents efficiently.
  • Provide training and guidance on document management systems and procedures.
  • Liaise with subcontractors and vendors to ensure they comply with documentation standards.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Proven experience as a Document Controller or similar role in the construction or engineering sector.
  • Familiarity with document control standards such as ISO 9001.
  • Proficiency in document management software (e.g., Aconex, Procore, SharePoint, or similar).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Knowledge of construction terminology and project lifecycle is an advantage.

Education and Experience:

  • Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in document control, preferably in the construction industry.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to AED3,000.00 per month
