Job Summary:
We are looking for a reliable and experienced Accountant to handle the accounting and financial responsibilities specific to the construction industry. The ideal candidate should have a solid background in construction project accounting, cost tracking, and compliance with UAE VAT regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations including journal entries, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Track project-related expenses and allocate costs accurately to specific sites or projects.
- Maintain and update job costing, labor charges, material usage, and subcontractor payments.
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports and cash flow statements.
- Handle payroll processing, including site workers and staff.
- Monitor and follow up on collections from clients.
- Assist in budget preparation and cost control across projects.
- Ensure compliance with UAE VAT laws, including preparation and filing of VAT returns.
- Coordinate with project managers, procurement, and site engineers for financial accuracy.
- Support internal and external audits and liaise with auditors as required.
- Maintain documentation for all financial transactions and ensure timely data entry in accounting software.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, preferably in a construction or contracting company in the UAE.
- Familiarity with project accounting and job costing principles.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Tally, QuickBooks, or ERP used in construction).
- Strong Excel and analytical skills.
- In-depth knowledge of UAE VAT regulations.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple project accounts simultaneously.
- Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- UAE experience
- Knowledge of WPS and UAE labor payroll practices.
- Experience working with subcontractor contracts and retention accounting.
