Oak Meadow, for over 50 years, has been a small and agile family-owned business. We write secular curriculum for homeschoolers, offer accredited enrollment in our distance-learning K-12 school, and serve charter schools and states by providing options for learning. A core of employees work from Putney VT, with more employees plus our student, family and school communities spanning the globe.

The Administrator of People, Pay & Culture, a human resource position, serves a key role, ensuring accurate and transparent support of employees’ payroll, benefits, and work environment, but even more being the primary point of contact for employees, ensuring that ‘each person is heard, valued and engaged.’

Primary responsibilities:

● First and foremost, be a knowledgeable, compassionate and collaborative resource and advocate for:

○ your co-workers - listen to their concerns, respond to questions, work with them to find solutions

○ the company - ensure compliance with employment laws and insurances for all states where employees reside

○ the directors - seek to proactively mitigate sources of conflict/barriers to good work culture

● Be impartial, evaluative and fair when providing assistance

● Be a good judge of when to resolve something independently and when to escalate/seek council from leadership

● Understand organizational structures, support them and offer suggestions to strengthen

● Report out essential summaries to executive teams with recommendations for potential action.

● Handle all elements of the payroll process

● Manage employee benefits

● Maintain a current and clear Employee Handbook

● Facilitate hiring of new employees and their onboarding

● Oversee on-going professional development opportunities for employees

● Uphold confidentiality

● Maintain and strengthen communication channels (ie encouraging employees to use their resources to resolve things when appropriate, etc.)

Required Skills:

● Superb interpersonal and communication skills (listening & speaking, verbal & written) , including follow-up.

● Proven record with resolving complex conflicts and improving employee performance and satisfaction.

● Depth of experience with diagnosing concerns, identifying issues, and effective, collaborative problem-solving

● Able to discern and shift between independent, autonomous tasks and team work

● 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources field, with increasing responsibilities

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
