AI Specialist / Machine Learning Engineer / Software Engineer — AI & Data (PermitTracker.ai)

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly capable AI Specialist / Machine Learning Engineer / Software Engineer to architect, develop, and scale the entire AI-driven data ingestion and processing stack behind PermitTracker.ai. This includes jurisdiction-level data scraping, data normalization, NLP/ML pipelines, quality assurance systems, and automated daily data refresh operations.

This is a foundational engineering role with direct influence over the technical direction of the company.

SEO and webdesign would be a plus.

Data Ingestion & ETL

• Build, automate, and maintain high-volume ingestion pipelines for municipal permit portals.
• Develop resilient scrapers, API connectors, and structured/unstructured data parsing systems.
• Implement validation, normalization, deduplication, and jurisdiction-level data QC.

Machine Learning & AI Development

• Develop and deploy ML/NLP models for field extraction, classification, error detection, and anomaly detection.
• Build automated testing and retraining workflows.

System Architecture & DevOps

• Architect scalable backend systems (Python preferred) with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes).
• Implement observability, logging, and monitoring for data freshness and pipeline health.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines and versioned infrastructure.

Product & Milestone Execution

• Achieve performance milestones tied to equity awards (7 defined phases over 24 months).
• Produce investor-grade demos showing jurisdiction coverage and model accuracy.
• Prepare documentation, architecture diagrams, and deployment workflows.

Required Qualifications (Must-Have)

• 3+ years professional software engineering experience in production environments.
• 2+ years experience building and deploying ML or NLP models (transformers, extraction models, or classical ML).
• Strong Python experience (FastAPI, Pandas, Pydantic, BeautifulSoup, Scrapy, etc.).
• Proven experience building real-world data scrapers, ETL pipelines, or automated data ingestion systems.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure) and containerized deployment workflows.
• Strong data modeling, error handling, and observability fundamentals.
• Demonstrable GitHub or portfolio showing real projects or deployed systems.
• Ability to operate independently, make architectural decisions, and hit defined deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

• Experience with municipal/civic datasets or government APIs.
• Exposure to GIS/geospatial data or property data systems.
• Familiarity with model monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, MLFlow).
• Bachelor’s or Master’s in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Software Engineering, or similar.
