Job Title: Analytical Chemist

Location: Madison Heights, MI

Hours/Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8 am to 5 pm

Pay Range: $33 - 43/hr

Type: Contract, Potential for extension or conversion to permanent

Overview

The Analytical Chemist supports laboratory operations by performing analytical testing, maintaining instrumentation, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of chemical data. This role involves method upkeep, data analysis, and collaboration with internal teams and customers to deliver reliable test results and project outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and perform routine maintenance on analytical instruments.
  • Maintain and update analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
  • Prepare and deliver detailed customer reports and manage project documentation.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional project teams.
  • Communicate with customers through correspondence, presentations, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
  • Manage digital systems including Microsoft Office, LIMS, and statistical software.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry; prior laboratory experience preferred.
  • Experience in an analytical laboratory strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in wet chemistry techniques including titration, filtration, dilution, extraction, and gravimetric analysis.
  • Knowledge of GC-FID, ICP, IC, SEM/EDS, and FTIR instrumentation desirable.
  • Experience using pH meters and specific ion electrode meters.
  • Strong chemical mathematics and data analysis skills.
  • Proficient in PC and laboratory software applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Solid interpersonal and teamwork skills.
