Description of Work

NC Community Colleges System Office has an opening for the Applications Systems Analyst I. The recruitment range: $67,900-$84,000.

The Business Intelligence Analyst is five-year time-limited position responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and managing analytical reports and dashboards for the North Carolina Community College System. This position works collaboratively with business owners, IT developers, and college stakeholders to gather and analyze business objectives, technical data requirements, and associated data flows that are leveraged to build analytical reports and dashboards to help users generate immediate insights and explore and solve interesting and emerging business problems. This position provides on-going training for stakeholders on how to access and leverage analytical reports and dashboards. This position will require someone who is intellectually curious, creative, innovative, resourceful, and detail oriented.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to interpret business needs and to translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Working knowledge of methods and techniques used in gathering, cleaning, transforming, analyzing, and reporting data.
  • Understanding of the best practices in data visualization.
  • Experience producing interactive data visualizations.
  • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally to establish and achieve project goals.
  • Excellent facilitation, interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact and communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

· Bachelor's degree in computer sciences or an IT related field from an appropriately accredited institution; or

· Associate degree in computer science or an IT related field or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and one year of experience in business application consulting or development; or

· High School or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and four years of experience in business application consulting or development; or

· An equivalent combination of education and experience.
