The DarkStar Group, a GRVTY Company is seeking an Applications Developer with a TS/SCI + Poly to join one of our top projects in Herndon, VA. Below is an overview of the project, as well as information on our company and our benefits.

THE PROJECT

The DarkStar Group's team uses AI/ML approaches (including NLP) to speed the analysis of massive amounts of aging data to determine what can and cannot be declassified, and the resulting redaction of portions of data items. This effort is critical to protecting our exponentially-growing classified data sets and to responding to an increased number of FOIA requests. The team consists of Data Scientists, ML experts, Software Engineers, Data Analysts, and Systems Integrators working very closely with groups of customer Analysts.

Work on this program takes place in the Herndon, VA area (we cannot support remote work) and requires a TS/SCI + Polygraph clearance (acceptable to this customer).

THE ROLE

• The DarkStar Group is currently seeking a Full Stack web Application Developer in Herndon, VA to work on a suite of services that will supply users with tools to automate a wide range of enterprise-wide Information Management mission activities. The candidate will be part of a team of software developers and data scientists to enhance existing production applications and build out new web services on a routinized production cadence to meet the evolving needs of users. This is an exciting opportunity for applications developers wanting to broaden their credentials in the realm of artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML). Development will take place in an iterative fashion using scrum techniques with inputs from all levels of stakeholders. The candidate must have the ability to communicate with project team members, user community, and leadership to assess changes and demonstrate iterative progress.
• This position will include a variety of activities, including:
• Integrating AI/ML technology into a production web application.
• Participation with iterative software development teams with adherence to all reporting requirements
• Designing, developing and unit testing code for a production system and demonstration capabilities
• Developing rapid prototypes to drive out requirements and design
• Providing demonstrations and detailed walk through of features to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
• Meeting with stakeholders, analyzing requirements, developing user stories, and translating these into software development tasks
• Working with systems engineers to specify and design the final system
• Development of technical documentation and briefing materials to support program status reviews, control gates, and other presentations as directed.
• This is an application developer within the data analytics team, but selected developer may help out other DWS groups if the mission need is there.

Required Skills

• Demonstrated experience with building web applications in the Java Spring framework.
• Demonstrated experience with building web applications using the Angular 2+ framework
• Demonstrated experience working in Linux (Bash) shell scripting
• Demonstrated experience with development and deployment of applications in the Commercial Cloud Services (C2S) environment or an Amazon Web Services cloud environment
• Demonstrated experience with Solr or ElasticSearch
• Demonstrated experience to cleanse and process (Extract, Transform, Load - ETL) large raw data sets.
• Demonstrated experience developing web-based platforms and services to perform data analytics on large data sets
• Demonstrated ability to design, develop, test and implement new applications based on project requirements
• Demonstrated experience working in a project team (3-5 developers) with experience in decomposing concepts to discrete development tasks and managing your work to a deadline
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Math, or other relevant field and minimum of six years of experience (Master’s degree equates to an additional 2 years of relevant work experience)

Desired Skills (Optional)

• Proficiency in Python software development, especially web service development in Flask or Django
• Demonstrated experience with text analytics and its applications/role/use in business intelligence/business analytics (i.e. search, entity extraction, sentiment analysis, document summarization, document categorization)
• Demonstrated experience researching and implementing machine learning algorithms for use in production systems
• Demonstrated experience developing proof of concepts of new technologies and evaluating the state of the art in machine learning algorithms for text analytics
• Demonstrated experience with machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch, Keras, Tensorflow
• Demonstrated experience with data visualization tools (i.e. Tableau, Pandas, D3.js, ggplot, etc)
• Demonstrated experience with NoSQL data stores such as MongoDB or DynamoDB
• Demonstrated experience using Natural Language Processing tools such as spaCy, NLTK, Stanford CoreNLP, or Gensim Natural Language Processing
• Demonstrated experience in Agile software development teams using scrum techniques
• Demonstrated experience using Jira, Confluence, and GitHub for documenting work
