Job Summary
We are seeking a strategic, knowledgeable, and collaborative Assistant Director of Human Resources to support and enhance our HR operations. This role plays a key part in workforce planning, employee engagement, compliance, performance management, talent acquisition, and overall HR program development. The Assistant Director will partner closely with the HR Director and senior leadership to ensure HR initiatives effectively support organizational goals and foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture.

Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & HR Program Management

  • Support the HR Director in planning, developing, and executing HR strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Lead diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to strengthen organizational culture.
  • Drive change management efforts and lead HR process improvement projects.
  • Contribute to long-term organizational growth through succession planning and organizational design initiatives.

Talent Acquisition, Workforce Planning & Development

  • Lead talent acquisition efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, and onboarding employees.
  • Utilize ATS and HRIS platforms such as iSolved, Insperity, and Navigator.
  • Support workforce planning, employee engagement, and policy development.
  • Oversee performance management processes, including evaluations, coaching, and performance improvement plans.
  • Coordinate training and development programs to support employee skill-building and leadership development.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Manage employee relations, including conflict resolution and communication support.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, including FMLA, OSHA, workers’ compensation, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee workers’ compensation claims and maintain safety and risk management standards.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and implementing HR policies and procedures.

Compensation, Benefits & HR Operations

  • Support classification, compensation, and benefits administration.
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee benefit inquiries and provide timely communication regarding benefit programs.
  • Oversee daily HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and regulatory compliance.

HR Analytics, Metrics & Reporting

  • Analyze HR data to identify trends, provide insights, and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare and present key HR metrics and reports for senior leadership.
  • Lead HR initiatives focused on talent management, employee retention, and organizational effectiveness.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FMLA, ADA, EEOC, OSHA, and wage and hour regulations.
  • Experience with HRIS/ATS systems such as Insperity, iSolved, or similar platforms.
  • Background in benefits administration and payroll management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card.
  • Ability to pass a background check and Central Registry check.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Industrial/Labor Relations, or a related field.
  • HR certifications such as SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR.
  • Minimum of 2 years of leadership or supervisory experience in the IDD (Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities) sector.
  • At least one year of experience in human resources, recruiting, or related administrative work within the developmental disabilities field.
  • Experience in direct service work with individuals with IDD.
  • Experience in nonprofit, healthcare, government, or social services environments.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
