The Bryan County School System is accepting applications for

Assistant Director of Transportation

for the

2026-2027 school year

. This position provides leadership, support and guidance to ensure effective financial and business operations in the department of school nutrition.

Position Overview

The Assistant Director of Transportation will support the Director of Transportation with the development and operation of the department to ensure the safe and effective transportation of Bryan County Schools’ students to and from school and school related activities. This position assists maintaining policy and regulatory compliance, administration of the department budget, adherence to high safety standards, hiring and evaluating personnel, and the daily supervision of transportation functions.

Possess and maintain valid and appropriate license(s), certificate(s) and/or credential(s) as may be required by the position.

Georgia Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Passenger (P) and School Bus (S) endorsement within 6 months of hire.

Proven successful experience in school or transportation leadership and/or supervision.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Essential Job Duties

Assist with daily decisions regarding the Transportation department's operations.

Assist with supervision, performance evaluations of bus drivers and monitors, coordination of training for safety, new hires, and managing parental complaints.

Collaborates and assists with the development, monitoring and evaluation of bus routes.

Assist in the development of assigned work schedules.

Assist in the planning and organization of professional development and training activities.

Assist with the coordinating schedules for the educational and athletic field trips.

Assist the Director of Transportation to recruit, interview, and hire qualified staff.

Maintain effective communication with district administrators, staff, students, parents, and community members.

Support building principals in the analysis and solution of transportation ridership issues.

Participates in the development and periodic reviews of student transportation operational rules, regulations, and procedures of the district.

Assist in the creation of annual reports.

Ensure adherence to good safety procedures.

Follow federal and state laws, as well as School Board policies.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. Employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to finger, handle, feel, and/or reach. Employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
