Assistant Manager – Lab & Quality Control

Job Purpose:

To ensure product quality and process consistency by managing laboratory operations, implementing quality standards, conducting analytical testing, and leading continuous improvement initiatives across the production line of polyester fiber and chemical manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Control & Testing:

• Supervise daily quality control operations across raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
• Conduct and oversee testing of physical, chemical, and mechanical properties of fibers and polymers.
• Ensure compliance with internal and external quality standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.).
• Maintain testing accuracy, calibration records, and traceability of results.

2. Laboratory Management:

• Manage lab equipment, instruments, and chemical inventories.
• Ensure calibration, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments (e.g., DSC, FTIR, IV Tester, TGA, Moisture Analyzer, etc.).
• Establish and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for lab activities.

3. Process & Product Quality Assurance:

• Work closely with production teams to monitor process parameters affecting product quality.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in case of deviations or non-conformities.
• Participate in process optimization and continuous improvement projects.

4. Documentation & Reporting:

• Maintain QC records, test reports, and material traceability documents.
• Prepare and analyze daily/weekly/monthly quality reports.
• Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with ISO and customer requirements.

5. Team Leadership & Training:

• Lead a team of Lab Chemists and QC Inspectors, ensuring effective supervision and motivation.
• Provide training on testing methods, safety procedures, and quality standards.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: B.Sc. / M.Sc. in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Chemical Engineering.
• Experience: 5–8 years of relevant experience in Lab & QC within the Chemical / Polyester Fiber / Polymer / Petrochemical Industry.
• Technical Knowledge:
• Understanding of polymer chemistry and fiber manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency in analytical testing instruments (e.g., FTIR, DSC, TGA, IV Tester, GC, etc.).
• Familiarity with ISO 9001:2015 quality systems and laboratory management practices.
