Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales
  • Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.
  • Assist customers by making product suggestions, filling special orders, and providing food preparation ideas.
  • Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via:
    • Telephone
    • In-store intercom announcements
    • One-on-one customer interactions
Operations & Merchandising
  • Assist with planning daily operations and monitor production processes for compliance and profitability.
  • Trim, cut, wrap, tray, and display meat products.
  • Build meat and seafood displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products.
  • Maintain cleanliness of work area and department.
  • Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
  • May be responsible for operation and maintenance of meat cooler, freezer, and butcher block.
  • Follow and maintain department standards and requirements for handling quick-sale items.
Employee Supervision & Training
  • Ensure trim specifications and cutting standards are followed.
  • Schedule, supervise, train, and assign duties to department employees.
  • Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees.
  • Understand opening and closing department procedures.
  • Train employees on store policies, sales techniques, and record-keeping procedures.
Compliance & Standards
  • Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department.
  • Comply with retail labeling laws, federal and state regulations, and company policies.
  • Ensure proper signing of products, including accurate pricing and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL).
  • Comply with all workplace safety rules and regulations.
Inventory & Stock Control
  • Assist with preparing sales and inventory reports; participate in physical inventory every 4 weeks.
  • Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives.
  • Stock and rotate products; maintain and organize meat cooler.
Shrink & Cost Management
  • Control shrink and manage costs effectively.
Equipment & Safety
  • Implement correct product preparation techniques; operate related equipment such as:
    • Pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, grinder, saw, saw blades, safety cutters, cuber
  • Ensure proper temperature levels for products during preparation, display, and storage.
Receiving & Administrative Duties
  • Perform receiving duties including:
    • Breaking down loads
    • Verifying orders using invoices
    • Inspecting quality and reporting shortages
    • Stocking and rotating products
  • Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques.
  • Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
  • Complete and monitor daily log sheets, production charts, meat grinding logs, sales and labor reports, and other required documentation.

Pay Transparency:



Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.


  • For roles in Washington State: Sick pay and PTO/Vacation pay are accrued based on hours worked and paid holidays are issued at 7-9 days annually.
