Responsibilities:
The Assistant Procurement Manager plays a key role within the estimating process by overseeing material pricing and bidding documentation for upcoming projects. This position ensures that all vendor and supplier pricing is obtained, tracked, and organized to ensure preparation of accurate and competitive estimates. The Assistant Procurement Manager collaborates with estimators and project managers to maintain strong vendor relationships and streamline the preconstruction process.
- Obtain material pricing and quotes from vendors and suppliers for all in-house bids.

Maintain and update a database of supplier contacts and preferred vendors.

Distribute bid invitations and follow up with vendors to ensure timely responses.

Review supplier proposals for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project specifications.

Provide value engineering options especially for competitive bids.

Create scope of work documents for specific trades.

Track and organize vendor pricing on the product procurement excel spreadsheet.

Manage the handoff process of awarded projects.

Analyze and improve estimating processes and systems.

Enhance vendor relationships by scheduling and organizing office lunch and learn.
- Meet and recruit new vendors through tradeshows.
Identify procurement efficiencies by reviewing construction drawings and determining when procurement resources are needed - - Contractor Furnish vs. Owner Furnish (CFCI vs. OFCI).

Establish project timelines and necessary resources needed to ensure proper staffing allocations during the RFP/bid process.
- Complete on-screen takeoffs using OST software.
- Utilize Bluebeam for construction drawing navigation, measurements and quick takeoffs.

Lead the leveling of vendor proposals and determining lowest responsible vendor costs to incorporate into estimate
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in estimating, procurement, or construction administration.

Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.

Familiarity with construction materials, methods, and terminology, especially in renovations.

Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, OST & Bluebeam); experience with estimating software a plus.

Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.

Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Ability to comprehend specifications and vendor quote terminology is a plus.

Salary Range Information:
Columbia Base Salary Range: $60,000 - $75,000 The range stated is specific to Columbia, Maryland. Placement within the listed range depends on many factors including, but not limited to years of experience, project size capability (for Construction & Field roles) and internal company equity.
