Duties and Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales- Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with an emphasis on fast and friendly service.
- Assist customers by making product suggestions; make intercom announcements as needed.
- Engage in suggestive selling and other sales techniques via:
- Telephone
- In-store intercom announcements
- One-on-one customer interactions
- Answer and respond to incoming calls appropriately; resolve customer complaints and escalate to Store Director when necessary.
Operations & Merchandising- Assist with planning daily operations and monitor production processes for compliance and profitability.
- Trim, cut, wrap, tray, display, and water produce items.
- Build produce displays; rotate and discard outdated or spoiled products.
- Maintain cleanliness of work area and department.
- Implement effective promotional and seasonal displays.
- May be responsible for operation and maintenance of Salad Bar and Fresh-Made programs (where applicable).
- Follow and maintain department standards and requirements, including product freshness and quality.
Employee Supervision & Training- Monitor employee productivity and assist with performance evaluations.
- Assist with scheduling employees to ensure adequate coverage and service levels.
- Possess specific knowledge of duties performed by all department employees, including opening and closing procedures.
Compliance & Standards- Maintain working knowledge of company policies and guidelines as outlined in the Albertsons/Tom Thumb Employee Handbook.
- Ensure proper code dating for all products within the department.
- Comply with all company standards for food safety, sanitation, and operational procedures.
Inventory & Stock Control- Assist with physical inventory every 4 weeks.
- Control inventory to ensure adequate product quantity, quality, and freshness; maintain levels per division directives.
- Stock and rotate products; maintain and organize produce cooler.
Shrink & Cost Management- Control shrink and manage costs effectively.
Equipment & Safety- Implement correct product preparation techniques; operate related equipment such as:
- Pallet jack, hand truck, scissors, knives, safety cutters, Sterilox machine
- Ensure proper temperature levels for products during storage and display.
Receiving & Administrative Duties- Perform receiving duties including:
- Breaking down loads
- Verifying orders using invoices
- Inspecting quality and reporting shortages
- Stocking and rotating products
- Adhere to product temperature and storage guidelines; follow proper packaging techniques.
- Process administrative paperwork and maintain accurate department records.
- Assist with completing and monitoring daily log sheets, Fresh-Made Production Charts, sales and labor reports, and other required documentation.
Starting rates will be no less than the local minimum wage and may vary based on things like location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Candidates with unique qualifications may be considered for compensation above this range. Dependent on length of service, hours worked, any applicable collective bargaining agreement and/or Company policy, benefits may include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, sick pay*, PTO/Vacation pay*, paid holidays*, bereavement pay and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401(k) eligibility). Associates in this position may be eligible for a quarterly bonus, subject to Company bonus plans. Applications are accepted on an on-going basis.
