Job Summary

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public health and related areas in online and/or face-to-face formats. Candidates with expertise in program planning and evaluation, epidemiology, health policy, community health, or global health are especially encouraged to apply. An active research agenda and commitment to mentoring students are essential.

Candidates with experience in Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH) accreditation processes and/or graduate program leadership are particularly desirable, as this position provides the opportunity to help direct and shape the online MPH program. However, experience with accreditation or program direction is not required.

Essential Job Functions

Teaching:

  • Teach courses in public health and related disciplines at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
  • Utilize both face-to-face and online course delivery methods, integrating innovative and evidence-based teaching strategies.
  • Supervise student field experiences, internships, and applied learning opportunities.
  • Maintain regular office hours and provide academic support to students.
Research and Grant Writing:
  • Develop and sustain a research agenda in public health with potential for national visibility.
  • Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present them at professional conferences.
  • Mentor undergraduate and graduate students in research projects, theses, and presentations.
  • Pursue external funding opportunities to support research and departmental initiatives.
Service:
  • Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment.
  • Participate in service activities at the department, college, and university levels.
  • Collaborate with faculty to advance CEPH accreditation and strengthen the MPH program.
Advising:
  • Serve as an academic advisor and mentor to undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Guide students in professional development, graduate school preparation, and career pathways.

Minimum and Desired Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Earned doctorate (Ph.D., DrPH., or equivalent) in Public Health or a closely related field (ABD with completion by start date will be considered.
  • Evidence of scholarly productivity and potential for sustained research.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching with the ability to teach in both online and in-person modalities.
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with CEPH accreditation and/or program administration.
  • Professional or research experience in community health, epidemiology, or health promotion.
  • Success in securing external funding or community partnerships.
