Qualifications
Minimum 21 years of age

High School diploma/equivalent and any of the following:
  • Completion of 48 college units.
  • Passed CA Basic Education Skills Test (CBEST).
  • Passed District Instructional Aide Exam.
Availability Monday-Friday, 40 hours/week during program hours; occasional weekends as needed.
2+ years of experience working in youth programs.
Clearance of TB test within last 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree (Education or related field).
Child Development Site Supervisor Permit (School-Age emphasis).
Experience working in school environments, particularly local districts.
Bilingual proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, or other languages.

Position Summary

Under the supervision of the Youth Program Director, the Assistant Site Coordinator supports the daily operations, program implementation, and development of youth and staff at the after-school program site. This role assists in maintaining a high-quality program that fosters learning, creativity, and positive youth development. The Assistant Site Coordinator helps ensure a safe, welcoming environment for all participants while building positive relationships with youth, families, and school administration. This position requires stepping into direct program delivery as needed and supporting compliance with the Youth Development Principles of the YMCA of Greater San Francisco.

After School Program Dates:
San Francisco Sites: August 11, 2025 – June 3, 2026
Marin Sites: August 18, 2025 – June 13, 2026

Job Responsibilities
Program Operations
Assist the Site Coordinator in managing daily program operations, including schedules and activities.
Support the planning and delivery of academic, enrichment, and recreational activities for youth.
Maintain program spaces, ensuring they are clean, safe, and accessible.
Child Supervision & Safety
Ensure the safety and supervision of children, maintaining a 20:1 child-to-staff ratio; step into ratio when needed.
Staff Management & Development
Help train, support, and guide after-school program staff, fostering professional development.
Program Quality & Improvement
Assist in monitoring program quality and implementing improvement strategies using tools like the ExCel Quality Action Plan (QAP).
Family & Community Engagement
Build and maintain positive relationships with school staff, families, and community
Communicate with families to share student progress and address concerns.
Student Enrollment & Data Management
Support student outreach, registration, and enrollment strategies.
Help track attendance and prepare timely program reports, including snack distribution and compliance documentation.
Fundraising & Compliance
Assist with YMCA fundraising efforts, including the YMCA’s Giving Campaign.
Uphold all YMCA, district, and grant program policies and requirements.
Work Environment & Physical Demands

The Assistant Site Coordinator works in a dynamic, fast-paced environment at school and program sites, interacting with youth, families, and school staff in both indoor and outdoor settings. The role involves frequent standing, walking, bending, and engaging in physical activities, with occasional administrative tasks. The position may require lifting and carrying program supplies up to 25 pounds, participating in recreational activities, and responding quickly to emergencies. The environment requires maintaining a clean, safe space while fostering collaboration with YMCA staff and school partners.

Salary Description

The hourly rate for this position is $24.00 - $28.00 per hour, based on experience, qualifications, and alignment with salary benchmarks for similar roles. Compensation is in accordance with grant funding approval and program budget requirements.
