Our law firm has a full-time associate attorney position available now, and we’re looking for the right professional to join our team. You will have the opportunity to learn from the Owner on legal issues and be the lead legal counsel to existing clients. You’ll be responsible for developing case strategy, performing legal research, drafting legal documents, and keeping client files up to date. Compensation:

$120,000 yearly

Responsibilities:
  • Resolve cases efficiently by using communicating effectively with and working alongside senior attorneys and paralegals
  • Organize and maintain files to ensure accuracy for other attorneys, paralegals, and staff
  • Analyze conflicts in legal matters, advise clients on solutions, and negotiate on behalf of clients
  • Prepare correspondence and legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, briefs, affidavits, motions, and settlement agreements for contract negotiations and proceedings
  • Perform legal research, prepare for and attend hearings or other legal proceedings, and give general counsel under the supervision of senior associate attorneys
  • Perform as lead attorney for the firm's cases in Key West, Marathon, and Plantation Key.
  • Conduct comprehensive case analysis, develop defense strategies, and prepare clients for court.
  • Represent clients in all criminal court appearances, including pretrial conferences, hearings, plea hearings, pre-trial motions, and trials (excluding appeals).
  • Review client issues on legal matters, analyze available options, and diligently work to determine the best course of action.
  • Keep files organized to make sure the most recent updates are accessible to other staff members.
  • Draft documents, such as correspondence, pleadings, motions, briefs, affidavits, plea agreements contracts.
  • Resolve cases efficiently by communicating effectively with prosecutors and clients.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships, providing empathetic, respectful communication and regular case updates.
  • Uphold the highest ethical standards in every case.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree required from an accredited law school
  • Effective communication skills and problem-solving skills are necessary to work with all levels of staff and clients
  • Active member of the American Bar Association (ABA)
  • Prepared to learn from senior attorneys to meet our client needs and grow our client base
  • Successful completion of the bar exam
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school and admission to the Florida Bar.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in criminal defense within Florida, with proven skills in handling a wide variety of cases.
  • Strong courtroom experience with confidence in handling numerous criminal cases simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, particularly in delivering compassionate client service.
  • Commitment to excellence, client satisfaction, and securing positive results.
