Job Title: Assistant General Manager – Environment

Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager – Environment will be responsible for driving environmental compliance, sustainability initiatives, and continual improvement in environmental performance across the Hisar facility. The role demands strong expertise in environmental laws, waste management, pollution control, and sustainable manufacturing practices to ensure Jindal Stainless operates responsibly and in line with statutory and corporate environmental goals.
Key Responsibilities
1. Environmental Compliance & Management
Ensure compliance with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and standards (CPCB, SPCB, MOEFCC, etc.).
Maintain and update all environmental permits, licenses, and consents to operate.
Coordinate with statutory bodies during inspections, audits, and compliance reviews.
2. Monitoring & Reporting
Monitor air, water, noise, and soil quality as per statutory norms and internal standards.
Prepare and submit statutory environmental reports on time to relevant authorities.
Maintain robust documentation and records of environmental performance and compliance.
3. Waste & Resource Management
Implement effective solid waste, hazardous waste, and wastewater management systems.
Drive initiatives for waste minimization, recycling, and resource conservation.
Ensure scientific disposal of waste in line with environmental norms.
4. Pollution Prevention & Control
Oversee functioning and maintenance of pollution control equipment (ETP, STP, scrubbers, bag filters, etc.).
Evaluate and implement best available techniques to minimize emissions and effluents.
5. Sustainability & Continuous Improvement
Develop and implement sustainability initiatives aligned with corporate ESG goals.
Promote energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, and green manufacturing practices.
Conduct environmental awareness training for employees and contractors.
6. Audits & Risk Management
Lead internal and external environmental audits.
Identify environmental risks and implement preventive and corrective actions.
Prepare and execute emergency response plans for environmental incidents.
Qualifications & Experience
Education: B.E./
B.Tech in Environmental Engineering / Chemical Engineering or
M.Sc. in Environmental Science; Post-graduation in Environmental Management preferred.
Experience: 15–20 years of relevant experience in environment management in large-scale manufacturing / steel / process industries.
Strong knowledge of environmental laws, ISO 14001:2015, and sustainability frameworks.
Experience in dealing with SPCB/CPCB/MOEFCC and other regulatory bodies.
Skills & Competencies
