Job Description –Associate Lab Technologist - Level P1 – Cytogenetics & T-SPOT

Business Unit - Diagnostic Laboratory Operations

Department(s) – Cytogenetics & T-SPOT

Primary responsibilities

• Receiving sample for cytogenetics tests and demographics confirmation between tube and TRF
• Handling postnatal samples – blood
• Culture of blood, harvest and slide preparation, based on training and assessment
• Image capturing once above wetlab are successfully completed
• Metaphase counting
• Karyotype analysis for blood samples
• After successful completion of above handling of prenatal samples such as dissection of CVS for culture
• Culture, trypsinization, and harvesting of prenatal samples, post training and assessment
• Slide preparation and image capture for prenatal samples
• Preparation of required reagents related to the above work
• Update maintenance logs, user logs on daily basis
• Assist senior is calibration documentation
• Receiving samples for T-SPOT.TB test and demographics check
• Perform T-SPOT.TB test workflow post training
• Analysis of T-SPOT.TB test results

Secondary Responsibilities:

• Handle other sections besides primary allotted work in absence of colleagues
• Assist seniors for SOP revisions and process improvement measures

REQUIRED COMPETENCE

Education - Graduate/Postgraduate in Life science, preferably in Biomedical genetics /Zoology/ Medical genetics/Applied Genetics/ Human Genetics.

Required work experience related to position - For post graduates, any prior cytogenetics lab experience will be an advantage. For graduates, an experience of 1 to 2 years in cytogenetics will be required

Special requirements / Skills / Attributes

Experience in Cytogenetic laboratory

Flexibility to work on Sunday/ Holiday as required.
