Department Information
At the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), equity, diversity, and inclusion are at the core of our mission to advance the health and well-being of California’s diverse people and communities. We are genuinely and strongly committed to cultivating and preserving a culture of inclusion and connectedness where we can grow and learn together with a diverse team of employees. In recruiting for team members, we welcome the unique contributions that you can bring to us and the work we do.
CDPH’s Office of Legal Services (OLS) is looking for a highly experienced attorney with extensive subject knowledge of the federal and state laws governing the numerous facility types and professionals regulated and licensed by CDPH’s Center for Health Care Quality (CHCQ) and with the ability and desire to mentor less-experienced attorneys in these areas.
CHCQ includes the Licensing and Certification Division, Field Operations Divisions, Internal Operations, and the Public Policy and Prevention Division and is responsible for regulatory oversight of health facilities, certified nurse assistants (CNAs), home health aides (HHAs), certified hemodialysis technicians (CHTs), and licensed nursing home administrators (NHAs). CHCQ’s Licensing and Certification and Field Operations Divisions play a critical role in the protection of patient safety by evaluating applicant health facilities, agencies, and CNA, HHA, CHT, and NHA applicants for compliance with state laws and regulations. CHCQ also investigates complaints, certifies health facilities and agencies’ compliance with federal laws and regulations, and oversees the education, training, and criminal record clearance of nursing home administrators, CNAs, HHAs, and CHTs. The Public Policy and Prevention Division responds to proposed legislation and handles various policy related issues and questions.
