Summary:
Olson and Olson, LLP is seeking an Attorney to work in its appraisal Litigation practice group offering hands on work through all stages of litigation. The attorney will have their own docket, interface with the client, conduct legal research, prepare legal documents, investigate facts, and prepare cases for settlement or trial.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Initial file review and evaluation of petitions of assigned cases
  • Draft legal documents such as briefs, motions, pleadings, and appeals
  • Investigate facts of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly
  • Resolve cases through settlement or trial/appeal
  • Make appearances before Texas District Courts
  • Participates in marketing and networking activities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Civil litigation
  • Legal research and analysis
  • Knowledge of legal principles, practices, and proceedings; and of state and federal laws, regulations, and rules
  • Manage a caseload
  • Self-motivated
  • Good communication skills to correspond to/with counsel, clients, and courts
Computer Skills:
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools and Adobe Acrobat
  • Experience in Prolaw case management software a plus
Education and Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited law School
  • Licensed to practice law by the State Bar of Texas
  • Member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas
  • 0-2 years legal experience at a law firm or governmental agency
  • Litigation and trial experience preferred
  • Legal competency/expertise/knowledge of the law, including Texas civil procedure required.
