Job Purpose
The Audit Executive (Shipping) is responsible for conducting operational and financial audits across shipping, logistics, and port-related activities. The role ensures accuracy of billing, compliance with SOPs, verification of freight and container-related charges, and identification of operational risks to improve efficiency and cost control.
Key Responsibilities1. Operational & Shipping Audits
- Perform periodic audits of shipping operations including port activities, container movements, vessel operations, and depot processes.
- Verify loading/unloading records, vessel reports, gate-in/gate-out logs, and shipment tracking data.
- Review customs, export, and import documentation for accuracy and compliance.
2. Financial & Billing Verification
- Check accuracy of freight invoices, container repair bills, handling charges, detention/demurrage fees, and vendor payments.
- Audit disbursement accounts (DA) and voyage-related expenses.
- Reconcile tariffs, rate sheets, quotations, and vendor charges with actual billing.
3. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure adherence to company SOPs, internal control procedures, and maritime/shipping regulations.
- Identify gaps in processes and recommend improvements.
- Support implementation of control measures to reduce financial risk and operational errors.
4. Cost Control & Variance Analysis
- Identify overcharges, discrepancies, or revenue leakages.
- Conduct variance analysis for shipping costs and operational expenditures.
- Provide insights to management for cost optimization.
5. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, risk assessments, and corrective action recommendations.
- Maintain audit records, checklists, and evidence files.
- Present audit summaries to management on a monthly/quarterly basis.
6. Coordination & Support
- Liaise with shipping operations, finance, depot teams, and port personnel for audit-related requirements.
- Support external auditors with shipping-related data and documentation.
- Assist in process standardization and policy development.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and auditing skills
- Knowledge of shipping operations and logistics workflows
- Understanding of port charges, freight rates, and DA processes
- Familiarity with customs and maritime documentation
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong MS Excel & reporting skills
- Good communication and coordination abilities
- Ability to identify risks and recommend corrective actions
Education & Experience
- Bachelor in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or related field
- 1–3 years of experience in internal audit, shipping audit, logistics audit, or financial audit (preferably in shipping/port industry)
- Experience with ERP systems, shipping software, or port management systems is a plus

Pay: Rs70,000.00 - Rs80,000.00 per month
