Autism Resource Specialist

Responsibilities:

• Demonstrating/teaching specialized strategies and/or providing topical workshops.
• Facilitate interagency collaboration.
• Provide technical assistance and information on autism spectrum disorders in person and via electronic means.
• Increase knowledge and awareness of autism spectrum disorders among healthcare providers, professionals, services providers, families, and the general public through the sharing of information.
• Provide up-to-date information on autism as needed to stakeholders, parents, and school district staff. parents, students, peers, and the community.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in special education and experience with individuals on the autism spectrum, OR a bachelor’s degree in special education and suitable experience
• Experience providing training regarding autism spectrum disorders and related interventions.
• Knowledge of current research and a range of practices in the field of autism.
• Recent experience working in the field of autism.
• Flexibility and willingness to learn new skills.
• Ability to travel independently in rural/remote Alaska.
• The requirements for an Alaska State Department of Education Special Education Type A Certificate or a Special Services Type C Certificate have been met.

Additional Preferred Experience:

• Demonstrated experience in training professionals, paraprofessionals, and community members.
• Interagency networking and collaboration.
• Experience in developing and implementing communication-based support strategies.
• Knowledge of Positive Behavior Supports.
• Good conflict resolution skills, willingness to learn, and good listening skills.
• Experience working with secondary transitions and adult service providers.
• Experience with distance education technologies, digital learning, and e-module creation.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,929.00 - $79,307.00 per year
