Job Description: Draftsman – General Contracting

Role Summary

The Draftsman is responsible for preparing detailed technical drawings, shop drawings, as-built drawings, and coordinated layouts for civil, architectural, and MEP works. The role ensures that all drawings comply with project specifications, authority requirements, and industry standards to support smooth construction execution on site.

Key Responsibilities1. Preparation of Drawings

• Produce shop drawings, as-built drawings, and detailed layouts for civil, structural, architectural, and MEP works.
• Convert conceptual sketches, tender drawings, and instructions into accurate technical drawings.
• Update drawings as per site instructions, RFIs, change requests, and consultant comments.

2. Coordination

• Coordinate with site engineers, project managers, and subcontractors to ensure alignment of drawings with actual site conditions.
• Maintain updated drawing logs and ensure the latest revisions are issued to site teams.
• Assist in clash detection and resolve discrepancies between architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.

3. Compliance & Standards

• Ensure drawings adhere to project specifications, contract documents, authority regulations (ADM, Dubai Municipality, Civil Defense), and recognized CAD standards.
• Maintain proper layering, dimensioning, scaling, and annotations according to company drafting standards.

4. Documentation & Filing

• Organize and maintain an updated database of all drawings and revisions.
• Prepare PDF and CAD files for submission to consultants and authorities.
• Support the technical team in preparing material take-offs when required.

5. Site Support

• Visit site when necessary to collect measurements, verify details, or prepare as-built drawings.
• Support the construction team by providing clarifications on drawings when needed.

Qualifications & SkillsEducation

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Technology, Drafting, or related field.

Experience

• 2–5+ years of drafting experience in a general contracting or construction company.
• Experience in UAE projects, especially with authority submission standards, is preferred.

Technical Skills

• Proficiency in:
• AutoCAD (advanced level)
• Revit (optional but preferred)
• MS Office
• Strong knowledge of construction sequencing and details.
• Ability to read and interpret all types of engineering drawings.

Soft Skills

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good communication and coordination skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: AED2,500.00 - AED3,500.00 per month
