Under the supervision of the Automotive Technician II, Lead and Administrative Sergeant, the Automotive Technician II performs all duties with regards to the maintenance of California Highway Patrol vehicles, special enforcement vehicles, and specialty (non-traditional) equipment.
Specific duties include: Diagnose, inspect, and performs minor repairs and adjustments on motor vehicles and accessories in order to maintain vehicles in proper working order and returned to the field in a timely manner; except items covered under warranty. Assemble, install, repair and/or remove special automotive equipment. Conduct comprehensive safety inspections of fleet and maintenance shop. Schedule vehicles for routine/regular maintenance and repair by private vendors. Coordinate fuel shipments. Coordinate pick-up of hazardous waste and used tires. Change flat tires as needed. Maintain inventory records of all tools and equipment. Maintain vehicle service island and storage facilities. Completion of other duties as required and/or assigned. Deliver motor vehicles to repair facilities for necessary maintenance and repairs. Deliver and pick up vehicles at Fleet Operations Section. Maintain Fleet Focus Database. Review repair invoices for accuracy. Maintain records of vehicle repairs and maintenance. Requisition and maintain inventory of automotive supplies. Perform other job-related duties as assigned or requested.
