Overview
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Autosys Engineer to join our client's multinational corporation (MNC) on a remote, contract basis. The successful candidate will be a key player in designing, developing, maintaining, and optimizing mission-critical batch processing workflows using Broadcom AutoSys. This role requires strong technical expertise in scripting and a proactive approach to monitoring and troubleshooting to ensure 24/7 operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
Autosys Development & Implementation
- Design and Develop: Design, develop, implement, and maintain complex job schedules and workflows using Broadcom AutoSys Workload Automation (v11.x or higher) to support various business applications.
- JIL Scripting: Expertly create, modify, and troubleshoot job definitions using Job Information Language (JIL) scripting (e.g., Box jobs, Command jobs, File watcher jobs, SQL jobs).
- Command Line Expertise: Utilize AutoSys command-line utilities (e.g., autuxlog, autorep, sendevent, jil) for effective job management, monitoring, and administrative tasks.
- Integration: Collaborate with application teams to onboard new batch jobs, understand their dependencies, and integrate them seamlessly into the AutoSys environment.
- Automation & Optimization: Implement job automation and continually optimize existing batch processes to improve efficiency, reduce run times, and enhance overall system performance.
Scripting and Automation
- Scripting: Develop and maintain robust scripts using languages such as Shell (Bash/Ksh), Python, or Perl to support and automate job execution, monitoring, and file processing tasks.
- Unix/Linux: Apply proficiency in Unix/Linux environments for scripting, file system navigation, basic system administration, and troubleshooting application-level issues related to job execution.
Operations and Support
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor job executions, identify issues (failures, delays, performance degradation), and perform first-level to in-depth root cause analysis (RCA) to quickly resolve job failures.
- Scheduling Concepts: Apply strong knowledge of job scheduling concepts, dependencies (predecessors), calendars, and time zones to ensure accurate and timely execution of all scheduled tasks.
- Production Support: Provide effective support during production incidents, ensuring minimal downtime and business disruption. Participate in on-call rotation as required.
- Change Management: Adhere strictly to ITIL and Change Management processes for all job modifications, deployments, and environment updates, ensuring compliance and control.
Documentation and Collaboration
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date documentation for job flows, technical specifications, dependencies, schedules, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Communication: Leverage excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to effectively coordinate with application development teams, infrastructure teams, business stakeholders, and management.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of hands-on experience as an Autosys Engineer, Developer, or Administrator.
- Proven expertise with Broadcom AutoSys Workload Automation (v11.x or higher).
- Strong scripting skills in at least one of the following: Shell (Bash/Ksh), Python, or Perl.
- Expertise in JIL scripting and AutoSys command-line utilities.
- Solid understanding of job scheduling concepts, including complex dependencies and calendar management.
- Experience in a Unix/Linux environment for system-level operations and scripting.
- Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a live production environment.
- Good communication and collaboration skills are a must.
Preferred (Good to Have) Qualifications
- Experience with other scheduling tools (e.g., Control-M, Tivoli Workload Scheduler) is a plus.
- Familiarity with ITIL processes and audit/compliance requirements.
- Exposure to database systems (SQL, Oracle, etc.) and ETL processes.
- Experience in a DevSecOps environment or with CI/CD integration tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git).
Job Type: Contractual / Temporary
Contract length: 6 months
Pay: ₹150,000.00 - ₹180,000.00 per month
